Action Alert-Sign OHV Petition Today            Updated 3/3/06

ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVISTS PUSH TO ELIMINATE OHV USE IN SEQUOIA NATIONAL FOREST-
OHV enthusiasts need to respond NOW by signing Petition below

The Sequoia Forest Keepers, an extreme environmental group based in Lake Isabella, have started an OHV hate campaign on their website encouraging people to write letters about bad experiences with OHV users in Sequoia National Forest. They will use these to substantiate their false claim of User Conflict. What they are doing is biased & wrong.

Sequoia Forest Keepers have also stated in a written comment to the County
We do not want shared trails with motorized vehicles due to user conflict
We do not want more designated OHV areas - they damage the environment

They do not fund trails or volunteer, but they want it all for themselves..

Recently they also presented County with a petition signed by 244 people who do not want OHV use allowed in the Lake Isabella area.

These are the same people who had the nerve to say at meetings over the past two years, they have no problems with OHV use.
So while we have been working to find collaborative solutions, they have been scheming to stab us in the back.

IT IS TIME FOR EACH & EVERY ONE OF YOU TO SIGN THE ONLINE PETITION BELOW & CIRCULATE THE WRITTEN PETITION.
THIS WILL SHOW THE COUNTY & THE FOREST SERVICE THAT OHV USE IS SUPPORTED BY FAR MORE PEOPLE THAN OPPOSE IT.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS PAGE TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW

After signing the petition there is one other important thing you can do.
The best way to help achieve our long term goals of keeping our trails open is to join Stewards of the Sequoia. The more members we have the more power we have & we will keep you informed on issues such as this.

We are pleased to thank the over 2000 folks who have signed the petition as of 3/3/06. The petition has been so successful we have decided to continue to collect signatures to present to County & other agencies to show the incredible amount of support for OHV recreation & access to public lands.
So keep those signatures coming-THANKS

The Kern River Valley Specific Planning process started two years ago & Stewards of the Sequoia have diligently attended every meeting & made verbal & substantial written comments. Yet the Planning department has decided to ignore much of the data we provided in favor of questionable data marginalizing OHV use & other recreation.

What makes it so important that OHV recreation be presented in fair light?

Marginalizing OHV recreation is the first step to eliminating OHV recreation. Seemingly unimportant misrepresentations of facts in Planning documents have a way of spreading like cancer. Other forms of recreation are being marginalized in the plan too, such as hunting & so called Active Recreation.

It is time to turn up the heat. We need members & the public to speak out. So far  minority special interest groups, intent on regulating the world to their liking, have been most effective at convincing the County to follow their vision. It is time the County heard from the majority. Even if you do not support OHV recreation, realize that your form of recreation will be next. Please sign the online petition.
